On Monday, June 1, 2020 Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-110 allowing campgrounds in the State of Michigan to open on Monday, June 8, 2020.

Meet requirements set forth within Executive Order 2020-97

No more than 10 people at a time are allowed within an enclosed structure on the premises and must maintain 6’ social distancing while inside.

No more than 100 people at a time are allowed in an outdoor gathering area on the premises (playgrounds, picnic pavilions, etc.) and must maintain 6’ social distancing.

Outdoor pools may open at 50% bather capacity.

Ensure people within Bath Houses maintain 6’ social distancing (tape or rope off urinals, toilet stalls, sinks, and shower stalls so the operational ones are a minimum of 6’ apart).

The DNR has closed or modified public access to many locations, activities and services to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. In addition, while most public land is currently open for local day use, state park and forest campgrounds are currently closed. As of Friday, May 29, dispersed camping on state forest land is open.

Michigan Safer at Home Order Lifted
On Monday, June 5, 2020, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer released Executive Order No. 2020-115, which will moves Michigan's Upper Peninsula to stage 5 of the Michigan Safe Start Plan. Governor Whitmer also issued Executive Order No. 2020-114 detailing the safeguards that employers must take to keep employees safe and healthy.
While moving to stage 5 in the Michigan Safe Start Plan is a good step, it is very important that everyone continue to be diligent with maintaining six feet of physical distance, wearing cloth face coverings in areas where it is more difficult to maintain six feet of distance, and to continue to stay home as much as possible. Also, LMAS continues to recommend that seasonal residents should come prepared to self-quarantine for 14 days. Mackinac Island
LMAS is encouraging residents of Mackinac Island to strictly follow the requirements for stage 4 in the touch vpn due to COVID-19 investigations.
